Hurrican Katrina was declared category 1 storm by the time it reached Florida’s coast on August 25, 2005. The intensity of hurricane compelled Jeb Bush, then Governor to declare an emergency. However, the hurricane kept on growing more dangerous with every passing hour. Just in the matter of a day, the category 1 hurricane graduated to category 2. After destroying Florida completely, hurricane Katrina with a speed of 80 miles per hour hit Louisiana. The situation in Louisiana had gone so bad that the governor of the very state Kathleen Blanco had to declare the emergency. Eventually, in order to curb the further damages, the White House had to step in. The National Guard troops were deployed in the impacted areas.
