A Ceremonial Burial

Experts wondered if the object was a part of burial and to confirm he sent it to Evgenia Syatova, a medical expert from Yekaterinburg. The expert confirmed, ‘when archaeologists suspected it could be a burial, they just cut also the soil beneath the bowl and sent it to me.

“I cleaned it and found fragments of a baby’s skull, so it confirms 100% that it was a burial.” The baby was aged between six months and three years old when it died.’ Gusev explained, ‘Sadly we cannot be more precise,’

An archaeologist at the Arctic Research Center, Andrey Gusev stated, “We were extremely lucky to find it. Of course, on one hand, it is a pity that the burial was partly destroyed by wind erosion. But it helped us to find it…” 

Shattered In Pieces

However, the bronze bowl that they had discovered was broken into many pieces. They managed to discover it because of wind erosion. The excavators felt their heart in the mouth when they lifted the fragments and found unimaginable stuff buried beneath it. 

A Skull

Under the bowl were pieces of a child’s skull that must have been between six months to three years old at the time of demise. However, the team’s medical expert could not confirm whether the bowl and skull consisted the part of a burial.           

Very Old

The bowl that they had just discovered is estimated to be 2,000 years old. Besides, they also found out that the bowl belonged to Persia region known as modern-day Iran now. Alongside the bowl, they found remnants of a knife as well. If we listen to researchers, the burial of findings dates back to 11th or 12 centuries.
