Catholic Religion

Pierce Brosnan is an Irish Catholic and hence was brought up under catholic religion. He still follows all those values he learned in childhood although he also believes in other religions Buddhism is very close to is the heart and he follows. In an interview by NewYork daily news, he talks about his tough time when his first wife and daughter demise of cancer it was the time full of sorrows for him it was then he fell back upon Catholicism to recover his wounded soul. He does not shy away from crediting his belief that he had on Catholicism. He said “I would say faith, being Irish, being Catholic. It’s ingrained in my DNA.” previously he does not have belief on religion he criticized it blamed it for excluding his mother from society and his father abandoned his mother when he was an infant.

Reunion

Reunited

His professional success brought changes in his personal life too. As he was gaining popularity day by day for his show Remmington Steele, his popularity got him the chance of meeting his father who had abandoned him a long time ago. The father contacted his son and both met at a hotel in Ireland when he was shooting for the show there. The meeting was quite emotional for the father as he apologized and showed his remorse over meeting him on that specific occasion and wished if they could meet in a more private circumstance. They spent a Sunday with each other and also had few pints of Guinness before going different ways. The only thing Pierce recalled about his father that “He was a good whistler  and he had a good walk…that’s about all I know about him.”

Second Marriage

After the tragic demise of his first wife, Brosnan met his second wife journalist Keely Shaye in 1994. They remained in seven years of relationship before tying the knot in 2001 in Ireland. They have two sons together called Dylan and Paris. Keeley and Brosnan encountered each other for the first time on a beach in Mexico. From there on their relationship grew and matured into the marriage that is on for over fifteen years. Keeley has been associated with TV programs including Unsolved Mysteries, Good Morning America, and Entertainment Tonight. The couple is very much in love with each other and is taking care of a big family including the other three children of Pierce Brosnan. This dashing gentleman is the grandfather of three, can you believe it?

Fourth Protocol

Fourth Protocol

James Bond was not his first spy movie. Before taking up the character of Bond, he portrayed the role of a spy called Major Valeri Petrofsky in the movie The Fourth Protocol in 1987. The movie was about a British Cold Spy that had Brosnan as KGB officer who goes to the United Kingdom to set a nuclear disaster that looks like an accident. This movie is based on the novel of the same name by the Frederick Forsyth. The movie performed well, acquiring the fourth rank in the box office. It was a precursor to his role as James Bond that was about to go to him after few years of this movie. The film helped him a lot to shape the role of Bond. Now you would have understood how he managed to perform the character so amazingly!

Losing Her!

Daughter’s Death

In 2013, Pierce lost one more important person to death when his daughter Charlotte succumbed to her illness. Charlotte was his adopted child and was the daughter of his former wife Cassandra. Her biological father died in 1986. She just like her mother got diagnosed with Ovarian cancer. Despite constant efforts, she could not defeat the disease and kicked the bucket at a very early age. No need to say it was a big loss to the Pierce Brosnan who had considered her as his own child and opened up about his irrevocable loss in a celebrity benefit, Stand Up 2 Cancer where he said: “To watch someone you love have his or her life eaten away bit by bit by this insidious disease, that part of your sorrow becomes an indelible part of your psyche.”

Bond Legacy

This way he fulfilled Cassandra’s desire to see him as Bond. The first Bond film he did was GoldenEye that won him many accolades and after that, he went on to prove his mettle as the face of Bond in the franchise like Tomorrow Never Dies, The World Is Not Enough, and Die Another Day. No need to say by this time Brosnon had reached the peak of his career’s success. He also came up with his own production company that made its first movie Thomas Crown Affair starring him and Renee Russo. Pierce said goodbye to his character as Bond in 2005 with Daniel Craig wearing this big shoe. His role was praised highly by many people along with Roger Ebert who said “somehow more sensitive, more vulnerable, more psychologically complete” compared to all other versions of Bond.
