The Prague Zoo
The full name of Prague zoo is Prague Zoological Garden and was opened in the year 1931. Interestingly, the zoo which has a reputation for housing elephants received its first two elephants in the same year when it was founded. It is located in the district of Troja in the north of Prague. In the year 2007, it was able to secure the seventh spot in the list for the world’s best zoo. It stretches across 58 hectares taking care of around 4,200 animals among which 132 are threatened. You are now aware of the fact that the zoo has a long history of providing elephants a safe environment to thrive, but you’ll be surprised to know that it is also known for its tremendous contribution towards saving Przewalski’s horse, a species for which it was the leading breeder in the past.
