Let’s give you a brief insight on the Indian elephant, the animal in the spotlight throughout the whole incident. As told earlier this species is currently endangered and has a total population of around 20,000 to 25,000. Their size varies from 6-11 feet at the shoulder and can weigh up to 5 tons. Their natural habitat is that of a dry, tropical or subtropical moist forest and grasslands. These animals which can measure up to 21 feet in length show some unbelievable traits of feeding for 19 hours a day and traversing an area of around 125 square miles as a part of their daily routine. They are a subspecies of the Asian elephant and full credit goes to facilities like the one in Prague zoo that are taking all possible measures to keep them away from the danger of getting extinct.
