SakshiMaroney Saved Many
As far as the number of people saved by Maroney is concerned he had saved around 150 people on that particular day. This is true he had been given the order to do this but what pushed him more was his sense of morality. It was more than a rescue mission for him.
Springing To Action
Maroney leveled the helicopter with the roof of their house and got the family members one by one inside it. It goes without saying that the family was shivering with cold and fear. Once the family got inside the helicopter the whole of the family broke down in tears. They had escaped death by a whisker. Whereas each and every member of the family was crying, there was one little girl who appeared to be not to be affected by this. She was calm and untouched.
Strange Girl
The strange behavior of girl intrigued Maroney. Usually, kids of her age cry during such tragic situations. The girl was the only member of the family who had her calm. Maroney found it really amazing. However, in a while, the girl was about to do something with the sergeant that he was going to remember all his life. Not only remember, this ordinary girl was going to change the life of the sergeant.
Safe Again
As Maroney and his team landed the family to the safety, the family thanked and blessed him. It was then the little girl did something really amazing. She ran towards the soldier and hugged him with a big smile on her face. Now, it might seem a normal gesture of showing gratitude for you but for Maroney, it meant much more than that. Her infectious smile brought a smile to the face of Maroney too. No doubt the girl had left an indelible impression on the Maroney and soon she was going to become an integral part of his life. Apart from the rescued family, Maroney and his team, there was someone else too who steered the story to an unexpected track.
Smiling Out
A little curve on your face can brighten up someone’s day. Maroney who himself was struggling with negative feelings breathed an air of positivity after meeting the small girl. As I said before anyone can draw inspiration from anyone. Here in this story the sergeant Maroney drew inspiration from a small girl. She inspired him to tackle every difficulty with a smile on face. His long lost strength and confidence came back and he took on the trouble more fiercely than ever. This was not the end, the little girl had more part to play in his life.
Tedious Task
Patrolling constantly over the flooded water and searching for flood victims was quite a feat. Looking for people from such a height used to make them go dizzy. But this time the situation was different for Maroney as he himself was different. He explained in an interview “it had been such a rough week when she wrapped me up in that hug, I was in la-la land. Nothing else existed. I was just loving that hug.”
