Let’s Think

Andrea and Keston knew that this was not the time to panic and they really need to think before making any decision. At stake were three lives, the unborn baby and that of the couple. They started with the research work on what is it like to have a baby with down syndrome.

 Perfect

Both of them together saw numerous videos on down syndrome to learn about children with such a birth defect. Andrea said that on watching the videos they realized that such kids are also just like any other. She says, “We saw kids that are actors, entrepreneurs, they get married …they do things that any kids can do.”

Down Syndrome

On learning more and more about this situation, they realized that the baby have stunted growth and may have certain physical disabilities, but with age, they grow into a normal human being as well. Further, Michelle Whitten, the president and CEO of the Global Down Syndrome Foundation told them more about it.

His Words

Michelle said, “There are people with Down syndrome who are accomplishing these amazing things. You have Lauren Potter, who is one of the ongoing cast members in ‘Glee.’” The kids do face some challenges in their initial years like certain surgeries but grow into a normal adult. With this Andrea and Keston took a decision.

Let’s Do This

Andrea and Keston gained confidence after listening to all these wise words. The duo decided that they would go forward with this pregnancy and will give birth to the child. However, the intended lesbian couple was completely against this decision of Andrea’s. And this turned into a war.

Not Done

The intended couple even threatened their “once-friends”. They said that it was completely their decision that whether they wanted the baby or not and not the surrogate mother’s. Andrea was just annoyed at the couple’s take on the matter. But to this Keston had a reply which added fuel to the fire.
