If you had ever traveled in subways especially in New york you would now it becomes difficult to breathe let alone to get a seat. The seats too are designed in a way that 3 people can adjust and the straphangers know that they have to share seats with the fellow unknown passengers and adjust their seats with more than 3 people if the subway is packed with the crowd.
