If talking in terms of size there are only 12 huge freshwater lakes in the whole world. Lake Ontario falls in the easterly side of the Earth which makes it the smallest among all. The lake covers some 7,500 square miles and, approximately, the waters are 280 feet deep. It’s the Niagara River that fills the lake with the majority of its fresh water.
