William Still a businessman despised the tradition of slavery a lot. In order to abolish it, he joined hands with Underground Railroad and ran it in Philadelphia. He freed at least 800 slaves during his stint with the organization. He dwelled upon his experiences in his book called The Underground Railroad: Authentic Narratives and First-Hand Accounts in 1872.
