Coming Back?

On the other hand, the village people got hit by shock when this news broke to them, the one who felt the blow the most was Perez. How a skilled fisherman as Alvarenga got trapped in the storm? Everyone was praying and waiting for them to come back but looking at the weather the chances seemed next to no. Gradually the whole of the village assumed that they would never be able to see them now.

A New Plan of Action

SharksThe duo knew that it would take a hell of a time for the rescue team to find them only if they would ever be able to find them, so they had to think of something on their own. It had been many days but the weather did not improve a bit. Initially, they endeavored to keep their boat safe. The chilled waves continued to splash slew of troubles on them. Once a wave struck them and hurled them high in the sky and put them back on the deck. Not only that, their beach slippers were making it difficult for them to maintain a grip on the deck. Seeing all these things, the men made a decision!

Throwing Valuables

Despite all their efforts, the boat continued to weigh down. So the pair decided to throw their catch into the water. Ironically that was the only reason why they started the voyage. They took the carcasses out of the box and hurled them into the water one by one. Soon, the vessel that was once full of carcasses got empty. They hoped that shark would not get near them smelling the blood.

Survival Tactics

Bad WeatherAfter getting the boat free of fish, the duo decided to get the ice and gasoline off the boat too. Other than that they had to take out water out of the boat in every hour, luckily they had three buckets for that purpose. Alvarenga knotted 50 buoys together as a sea anchor to give stability to the boat. The days were not as difficult to deal with as nights were.

Cold And Dark

The sea was nothing less than a nightmare in the night with the temperature dropping down scaringly. In order to prevent hypothermia, the two would hug each other tightly while sleeping with legs twined with each other under the cooler to get enough body heat of each other. The two were so cold that they were not able to close their hand to make a fist. Whenever any wave would cross over their boat one of them would have to go out to get the water out leaving the cooler.

Heading Nowhere Slowly

Fishing with HandsWith everything gone, the two had nothing to drink and eat. Whereas the chaotic water was pushing their boat in the wrong direction. Alvarenga and Córdoba were completely clueless about where they were going. What was worse than this was that they were out of any bait or hooks to catch any fish to eat. Living without food seemed impossible now so, Alvarenga decided to do something that he would have never done in his ordinary days.
