Luring Females

Lyrebirds are also known for their shyness. That is why they spend their entire life all alone in a forest. Why forest? Well, the climate of tropical forest fulfills their every requirement along with giving them a safer and better place to hide in. The climate also proves helpful in their mating.

A Call

Lyrebird makes a mating call in order to invite a female for mating. At that time, the entire jungle echoes with their mating call. You must be wondering how that mating call sounds? Well, it is a melodious song sang by the male lyrebirds. That is very ear pleasing.

Measurement

Lyrebirds are about a meter long.  Male lyrebirds are about 80-100 centimeter long whereas female ones are about 74 centimeter – 80 centimeter long. As far as their weight is concerned the Superb Lyrebird weighs about 2.2 lb.

Very Grounded

Lyrebirds have one of the fanciest wings in the world of birds. However, the birds rarely use their wings to fly as they prefer staying on the ground all the time. If you ever happen to encounter them. you would see it walking on the ground. 

Not Always Melodious

Well, this beautiful bird sometimes makes the scariest sound when feels threatened. It makes a high-pitched sound resembling the sound of an alarm and then tries to run away with the help of legs and claws. At that time too they rarely fly. They prefer hiding behind vegetations.

Life Span

Lyrebird has a lifespan of 30 years. As they spend their entire life in the forest living surrounded by wildlife, they spend a healthy and long life.
