Need For Help

Clearly, the buck needed immediate help. Annette explained, “We were driving along, and all of the sudden, my husband saw something in the water popping its head up we did not know what to expect. It was a deer just swimming in the middle of Lake Ontario,”

Stunned

They knew that they needed to save the little helpless buck at any cost. Among all of them, it was Alivia who was most concerned about its safety. Alivia worriedly said,  “That thing didn’t even have floaties!” Well, the incident was so surprised that they could not understand at first what should they do about it. For the first few seconds, they could not think of anything and kept watching the deer struggling to save its life. In any second it was going to lose its life.

End Of The Time

Schmelzingers had to think on their feet as the buck was gradually losing its courage. They could sense that. Annette describes, “Our first reaction was, we gotta help this deer.” They were the only one there so the onus of helping the deer was on them.

Very Far

The deer was nowhere near the shore. In fact, it was wading away from the shore. Joe said, “He was definitely way out there. We were probably in 70 feet of water.” He added, “It was headed out into the lake. It was headed the wrong way.” The family had to think of something otherwise the deer was going to lose its life.

Capturing It

It was a rarely seen sight. So Annette took out the phone from her pocket and decided to film the sight. No need to say the footage became popular in a matter of time. People could not believe what they were seeing was actually true. But the pictures were right before them. There was no way they could deny it!

Helping Hand

On the other side, Joe steered the boat closer to the deer. Close enough to grab the animal with the hand. When the boat reached the animal, he bent down and reached out his hand towards the animal. But it was not as easy as it looked. The deer was too scared to let anyone come near it. Joe had to find a plan B.
