A Structured Society

There is not much truth in the popular image of Vikings. They were not heartless barbarians. This is true that they have done some brutal things but we should also keep in mind that the time they were in is famous for its brutal and violent nature. And every era in history is famous for some brutal conducts. On the other side, Vikings are also famous for a well-ordered society consisting of three classes. The lowest rung was of Thralls who were slaves, farmers were called Karls, and Jarls were chieftains. Not only that, they had Kings and Queens too.
