Columbus Was In A Hurry
After the success of the first movie of the Home Alone franchise, director Chris Columbus tried to film its sequel as soon as possible. His goal was to stop Macaulay Culkin from maturing too much between both of them. He was stopped by the studio but it did not take long for Home Alone 2: Lost in New York (1992) to be produced anyway.
The Other Three Movies
Even though three other Home Alone movies were released after the first two, they were not such a huge success. The obvious explanation is that Macaulay Culkin and the rest of the cast were the key ingredients on the first two and they were not present on the other three.
Culkin Did Not Forget His Experience
In 2015, Macaulay Culkin featured in a web series called DRYVRS. He represents an Uber driver and actually talks about being left home alone after his family left for vacations. Here is what he said: “I still have nightmares about this bald weirdo dude chasing me around talking like Yosemite Sam… They don’t even curse!”
Macaulay Was Not The Only One
After that episode of DRYVRS was released, Daniel Stern recorded a video in response where we can see a very scared Marv. He is asking Harry to come home and help him because the “kid” is back! How we wish he was actually back for a reunion with the original cast.
Marv Almost Got A Spin-Off
Stern got to be in Bushwhacked (1995), a movie by the director Greg Beeman. What you may not know is that the film was actually going to be a spin-off of Home Alone, with Stern playing Marv, the Wet Bandit, once again. Even though it did not come to reality, the story of “Mad” Max Grabelski would have fit Marv’s character perfectly.
A Success In Poland
The Home Alone franchise has been aired during Christmas’ prime time since 1990! When the national Polish TV channel announced they were considering stopping that tradition, the public was not so happy. Its audience is the reason why it keeps being aired to this day.
