It is incomprehensible to even think that the 90s did not happen just ten years ago. In fact, it happened almost 30 years ago now! The decade is marked by the dawn of a new century, along with the numerous pop culture memorabilia it churned out. Not to forget, the amazing bout of beautiful ladies which rocked the decade with their acting and singing chops. So let’s take a deep dive into some serious 90s nostalgia!


Then: Alyssa Milano


Alyssa Milano got her start on TV by playing the adorable daughter of Tony Danza on the beloved sitcom Who’s The Boss. But it wasn’t until she won the role of the youngest Halliwell sisters in the hit series Charmed that the audience sat up and took notice of the young lady Alyssa had matured into. The world was captivated by her character’s antics such as her illustrious love life, magical debacles, and the ever-changing appearance.

Alyssa is still a prominent presence on TV, on shows such as Mistresses. But in an unexpected development, the actress even wrote a well-received comic book, Hachtivist. She married agent David Bugliari in 2008, together with whom she has two kids. She’s been known to say that her role as a mother is the biggest role of her career. 

Then: Lucy Lawless

Lucy Lawless played the titular character of Xena in the pop culture favorite, Xena Warrior Princess. A perfect fit for the role, Lucy left her mark on the psyches of fans around the world. The unique costume design of her character which was inspired by the Amazons is a memorable relic in pop culture, along with her signature battle cry.

Lucy continued acting after Xena was wrapped up. She has worked on shows such as Spartacus, Parks and Recreation, Agents of Shield and Ash vs. the Evil Dead. She married Robert Tapert, the executive producer of Xena, and went on to have two sons with him, as well another from her marriage prior to Tapert.

The alluring actress used to play the well-behaved daughter of a Protestant minister on the show 7th Heaven back in the 90s. Her acting chops at such a young age even won her Young Artist Award for her performance in the critically acclaimed drama Ulee’s Gold in the year 1997.

The actress has come a long way since her days of playing the demure daughter. With films such as Blade: Trinity, Stealth, The A-Team, and Total Recall under her belt, she also boasts of a gorgeous husband! She married the 90s boyband heartthrob Justin Timberlake and had an adorable son with him in recent years.

Then: Alicia Silverstone


Alicia Silverstone became a pop culture icon – who is still widely referred to till this day – when she starred in the modern rendition of Jane Austen’s Emma, titled Clueless. But even before that, she had gotten her Hollywood career headstart starring in not just one, but three Aerosmith music videos. Her long blonde locks and blue eyes contributed to her immense popularity in the 90s.

Although none of her other cinematic endeavors have afforded her the immense success that Clueless had garnered, she still flits between Broadway and the silver screen. She played Mandy Bloom in the Broadway production in Time Stand Still and has had unmemorable appearances in television and films. She stands as a proud vegan who condemns garments made of animal skin.

Then: Tiffani Thiessen


A darling of 90s television, Tiffani Thiessen starred not only on one but two hit shows! She not only appeared on hit teen drama Beverly Hills 90210 which followed the lives of rich teenagers and the ups and downs of becoming an adult, and the more popular, Saved By The Bell. 

Now: Tiffani Thiessen


Tiffani prefers now to focus on her own brand over acting and hosts her own cooking show, Dinner at Tiffani’s. The show is not only headlined by her, but she is also the executive producer for it.

Then: Keri Russell


A lot of credit can be given to Disney Channel for providing a platform for young kids to kickstart their career in Hollywood. Keri Russell was cast as a part of the Mickey Mouse Club at the age of 15, and that was all the start she needed. She went on to star in Honey I Shrunk Tthe Kids and then the TV show Malibu Shores.

Keri went on to appear in many popular films such as Waitress (now a Broadway play), Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, and the Free State of Jones in the leading role. Keri currently plays one of the leads in the show, The Americans, with her real-life partner, Matthew Rhys, as her co-star.
