Transformation Of Diet

As the doctors made an attempt to change her diet, she fell severely ill. All these years, she munched upon raw foods and flesh, so to make it a little easy, they gradually shifted her raw food to semi-cooked food and wine, but surprisingly her teeth began to fall. Changing her diet completely proved to be futile.

Giving A Name

The feral woman had a tough time while adapting to the new diet. However, she picked up the new language quite quickly. She was now able to understand and speak French. While she was developing a sense of this new language, she was baptized at the Roman Catholic Church and was known as  Marie-Angelique Memmie Le Blanc. Soon only her real identity was now going to be unraveled.

A Life Long Lost

Marie soon recited her story. No one would have ever expected that the girl who looked this ferocious would have actually lived a life of a slave. Marie was actually a Native American born as Sioux from the Wisconsin region. She was brought up by a French Woman who is believed to have sold her. Yet, the way she sold her was even more surprising.

Painted Black

It is quite tough to believe that a mother sold her 8-year-old daughter in slavery for a few dollars. Not only this, but she even painted Marie’s skin black so that she seems to be just like any other slave there. The skills that Marie acquired were what she learned from her tribe that has helped her survive the forest for nearly a decade.

Unfortunate Being

Marie reveals that her life was not that easy. She had faced slavery and in an attempt to escape that, she and another companion slave of hers managed to board a ship. But unfortunately, they were shipwrecked and were lost in the middle of the sea. The little girls had to find a way to bypass that enormous sea.

A Decade Alone

Somehow they managed to survive the sea and landed at the shore. For a few months, the girls wandered in the wild forest, munching on whatever they came across and protecting themselves from the wild animals using sharp stones. But, once they ended in a disagreement and had to part ways. Since then it is been some ten years that Marie wandered in the forest alone.
