Recalling The Phone-call

“I answered the phone, not expecting anything, and the first thing I heard was Bosco howling,” Ballato recalled his experience. “He doesn’t have a bark or howl or growl. It’s kind of all three together. You hear it and it stands you up straight.”

Friends From Rhode Island Help

All that needed to be done now was to get Ballato and Bosco together. This would be quite a challenge as they were 2000 miles away from each other. Then again, Ballato’s friends from Rhode Island quickly gave their assistance.

Crowdfunding Campaigns

His good friends organized some crowdfunding campaigns to help Ballato and Bosco reunite. “We recruited our friends, our neighbors, dog lovers, total strangers,” said Bob Arnold, who is Ballato’s friend. “People that I haven’t heard from in 30 years bellied up money.”

All Worth It

Graham had to drive over 36 hours in order to get Bosco to reach Ballato all the way in Colorado. The strenuous trip was worth the hassle because of the owner’s positive reaction. “My payday comes seeing the lost pet back home with their family,” she explained.

A Strange Reunion

Ballato expressed the meeting as somewhat really strange. “I didn’t know what he was going to do,” Ballato explained. “The first couple of minutes, with everyone around and the cameras, he was like, ‘OK, who the is this guy?’”

Meeting His ‘Dude’ Again

Ballato called the dog by the nickname he gave him saying “Dude.” The dog quickly stared deep into Ballato’s eyes. “From that point, it turned around,” Ballato revealed. “Obviously, it was familiar and it was pleasing to him.”
