The dog was doing her own investigation while staying home. “When we returned, Keola had gone through the bin and had got the pregnancy test out of the bin,” Alhanna revealed. “She had never touched the bins before so it was very odd.”
Humoring The Dog
Alhanna added, “She was sat with it in front of her like she was trying to tell us something.” So, in order to get the dog to relax, she redid the test. “I grabbed it and saw a faint second line. I couldn’t believe it,” she said.
Two Weeks Pregnant
However, the blurry line did not have Ricky convinced. The following day, Alhanna bought a more sophisticated pregnancy test. They soon realized that she was in fact, two weeks pregnant – a fact Keola seemed all too aware of.
Alhanna knew Ricky would obviously be ecstatic over the good news. And it only seemed right that Keola should be part of the big announcement. So,Alhanna told Ricky by tying a handwritten note on Keola’s collar, then sending her to Ricky.
Expecting Parents
So the news was confirmed that Alhanna and Ricky were about to become parents. “We were both over the moon and we realized that Keola was truly a special dog who could detect things that we couldn’t,” Alhanna said.
An Overtly Loyal Dog
Keola was by Alhanna’s side all through her pregnancy. Even when she began falling sick at 18 weeks the dog even accompanied her to the bathroom to throw up. This was not the only thing Keola did for her.
