I See You!

Ms. Duncan knew that she couldn’t stop Clare from being a part of the prom but she warned her that her dress should stay pulled down always and that no one should have a problem with it. Also, Clare was told that volunteers will be keeping an eye on her! But somehow she was glad that she made it through the test and volunteers and could finally enjoy. However, what happened next was a weird incident.

What About Them?

We all understand the fact that tall girls usually have issues as their dresses look short as they’ve long legs while shorter girls can go on with the same dress. “When I got into the ballroom I laughed because I was surrounded by girls in much shorter dresses than me,” Clare later told.

Double  Standards

“We were also a little grossed out by all the dads on the balcony above the dance floor, ogling and talking amongst themselves,” Clare told about how fathers were on the balcony right at the top of the dancefloor and looking and discussing. James recalled how the dance floor was surrounded by so many chaperones most of them were adult men.

Staring Dads

“I felt violated by the sheer number of male parents that were assigned to do nothing for five hours other than watch girls in short dresses and heels dance to upbeat music,” said Clare. She adds, “I think that it is sick and wrong that they assigned them to sit on a balcony above us and look down on us and single us out for our clothes or dancing.”

Awkward Moment

Clare and her friends found these few things quite surprising yet they were trying to have fun as they paid the $25 entry fees to be a part of that Saturday prom night but it wasn’t too long that one of the volunteers came to Clare and told her that they’ve to talk in private! What happened next was enough to leave Clare frustrated.

Impure Minds?

“[She] told me that some of the dads who were chaperoning had complained that my dancing was too provocative and that I was going to cause the young men at the prom to think impure thoughts,” says Clare. The organizers were talking to Clare and when her friends tried to explain to them that they weren’t even dancing, they were asked to mind their own business.
