Typhoid Mary
Even after being exposed to the bacteria salmonella typhi Mary Mallon did not become a victim of Typhoid. But she was an asymptomatic carrier of the same disease. This means that she herself never got infected by the disease but she could get other people infected by passing her infection.
She came to be known as “Typhoid Mary” as she infected a lot of people in New York where she worked as a cook. She refused to accept that she was an agent of the disease but eventually was forcefully taken to the North Brother Island and kept there for over 20 years.
