This breed of horses came about in the 15th Century, so they can rightfully be called ancient breeds. The Andalusian was even mentioned by Homer in his ‘The Iliad’. These horses are not only pleasing to look at, they are also extremely strong and resilient, perfect for battle. Nowadays they are mostly used for dressage, jumping and so on. Their colors are usually a mix of grey or bay in. They also possess very thick manes and tails. The Spanish breed has spread all over from the Iberian Peninsula. Its other names include Pura Raza Espanola and Horse of Kings.

If you have ever seen a Caspian horse, then you would know that these horses are very small in size. Their small stature is one that sets them apart from all the other breed of horses on the planet. These horses are also ancient breeds and were thought to be extinct for a while in the past. However, there were sightings of these horses around the 1960s. The breed was again found to be in existence in the year 1965 by Louise Firouz. The horses originated from North Iran. There is another name given to this breed of horses. They are sometimes called the Khazar Horse.

Welsh Pony and Cob

When talking about popular horse breeds, who can forget the Welsh Pony and Cob. The Welsh Pony and Cob breed were originally from Wales in the United Kingdom. They are known for being both sturdy and robust. The horses are again an ancient horse that has lived on earth ever since the Middle Ages. These horses are capable of showing a good temperament and also serve as efficient free-moving gait. These horses are mostly used for jumping, trekking, pleasure riding, etc these days.

Shire

They were exclusively found in England until they were exported to the United States of America in between the 19th and the 20th Century. This breed of horses has multiple colors. They are mostly found to be black, bay or grey in color. Some of the Shire horses can be found to possess white marks and white stockings with very long hair or “feather”.

This breed of horses is also called Frisian and Belgian Black. So where exactly did these breed of horses come from? Well, the Belgian Black horses have originally come from the beautiful land called the Netherlands. The breed only had one color. They are black in color and does not have any other color palettes within the breed. There are some other features that these horses have that make them different from others. They usually have a muscular frame and are exceptionally agile .Nowadays, most of these horses are used for dressage.
