After reaching the highway, he still needed to do a lot. When he reached the interstate, the old man would then be offered rides. This time, he managed to score a ride by a truck driver who had noticed him steering himself on the side of the highway. The man’s story touched Megan and she felt like she had to do something for the poor old man who had to go through so much difficulty.
Something Else
And another concern popped up in Megan’s head. She wondered how long this old guy had gone in the absence of eating food besides canned and packaged dry foods. She then bought him some milk which led to him to break down immediately. The man in the wheelchair could feel the compassion and affection this kind lady was showing and it was overwhelming for him.
Another Kind Gesture
She spent quite a lot of her day with the old man, Megan was happy to do so. Although she was also busy, she did not feel bad about helping a man who had risked his life at war for her and so many people’s freedom. And right before the two went their separate ways home, Megan paid everything for the man although he was objecting to this. She thought of another way to help him too…
Megan’s Idea
What she did next was something only a considerate person could have thought of. Well, before going home, Megan took her phone out and made a call. Who could she have called? Well, she called the old man a taxi so that his perishable groceries would reach home fresh, so that he could travel more comfortably. Megan also gave extra cash for the driver to help the old man inside his home.

And so before they parted way, Megan made sure to give her thanks and show her gratitude to the veteran once more for his service to her and her country. She was glad to have been able to help a man who had done so much for her, sacrificing his well being and life. The elderly man replied, “God bless you,” with tears filling up his eyes as the cab came to pick him up.

And when they both got in their respective cars, Megan felt really emotional. She just sat in her car and started to cry, bursting with emotions from what she had just experienced. She could not help but feel so much compassion and empathy for the old man. She was tearing up more and more and decided to share details about her day with her friends on Facebook.
