A Postcard

A postcard which was sent from an army medical hospital in Rockford, Illinois, 7 decades ago finally reached the former upstate New York home of the couple who in the first place sent it in the year 2012. Some 70 years ago, soldier George Leisenring’s parents met him at Camp Grant in Rockford from where he posted this postcard. He addressed it to his sisters, Pauline and Theresa Leisenring living in their family home in Elmira, NY. The postcard read “Dear Pauline and Theresa, We arrived safe, had a good trip, but we were good and tired,”. It reached that address some 7 decades later and left the family confused.
