He was infested and in a very bad condition

The team at the rescue center began his treatment by first removing all the ticks that were infesting Wiley’s body. They further proceeded to give him a bath and test him for parasites and diseases. Sadly, it was found that Wiley had Lyme disease and anaplasmosis, This was a condition that affected his heart rate and made him anemic. Both of which needed to be treated on immediately.

Finally receiving all the care he needed, but the rescuers were concerned

Once in the sanctuary, Wiley was filled with love, affection and a whole lot of antibiotics. All this was necessary for Wiley’s health since, Lyme disease is known to cause rashes, fatigue, and headaches. If it wasn’t for Sarah’s will to help this little trooper, there’s no telling how much longer this little guy would be able to survive in the wild like this.

Maybe he was someone’s lost pet?

All while this cute little pup was receiving a spa-like treatment at the sanctuary. Both Nicole and Sarah were busy searching for a microchip, any missing dog complaints filed for him or any other source of identification. They were leaving no stone unturned to make sure that this wasn’t anyone’s lost a little fur baby.

They were through with their search but…

“We don’t know if he’s someone’s lost pet, they’ve been scouring the internet, calling the local authorities,” Nicole said.  But so far there had been no reports of any sort for a lost dog that matched Wiley’s description. At this point, both the rescuers were pretty sure of it that Wiley was either a stray dog separated from his litter, or his owner might have simply dumped him.

Will he be the same?

Upon looking at this roughed up pooch Everyone was estimating his age to be somewhere around 2 years, but he had been a stray for around 18 months. taking all this into consideration, Sarah pondered if it will be possible to make a happy-go-lucky pup once again? Or would his instincts be too feral—too wild—to ever be a house pet again?

Wiley seemed to be adapting nicely to his new surroundings

Fortunately, Wiley overcame the odds!  “I believe he’s going to be adopted fairly quickly,” Nicole said. “He’s a fur ball of love. He is leaning on me, smooching on me whenever I am around. A lot of these rescue dogs are incredibly grateful. People think, ‘Oh my God, they’re gonna be uncontrollable, they are wild.’ But it’s not the case at all.”
