Did he also quit trying? Or did he have the courage of fighting back to something that even the doctors had no solution for?

Meet Doug Lindsay

The story takes us back to the year 1999, when Doug Lindsay, a senior year college student was 21 years old. He had just finished summer program in researching biochemistry at the University of Kansas and had then planned to return to his own school, a Jesuit college Rockhurst University in Kansas, Missouri.

Future Plans

Just like every other college-going student, Doug had dreams of his own which he wanted to fulfill. Doug always wanted to be either a Professor of Biochemistry or a writer for the show The Simpsons, since it was his favorite show. But little did he know that all of his dreams would go in vain in one single day.

How All Started

Doug’s life took a turn on an evening when he was returning home from his first day of classes in college. Something happened to him that left his life unaltered for the remaining course of it and certainly not in a positive way.

Unaware

Life was going perfectly fine for Doug who had thought that he would soon be finishing his final year at college and start working on his career goals. But on the very first day of his last year of college, something happened that made Doug drop out of college just when he was so close to getting his degree in Biology.

The Fall

As soon as Doug finished his first day of class and started walking back home, his heart started pumping abnormally and he had started to feel uncomfortable. He reached home somehow and was sitting at his dining table to catch some breath when he collapsed suddenly and could feel the whole floor spinning around him.

Perplexed

Doug could not understand what was happening to him. He had been perfectly fine when he woke up in the morning and had had a productive day at college, then what had gone wrong now? “Even lying on the floor didn’t feel like it was low enough,” he said.
