Even after losing everything Jose said, “I try and maintain some discipline in my life to try and regain order. It’s important that one has order in their life. I go to sleep around 10 and I’m up by 8. I know its almost impossible to change things in my life, but I can make it more comfortable, more real. I have to start with this: my appearance because appearance is very important.” He grabbed the opportunity that came to him.
Wash Before Cut
Jose Antonio had been living on the streets for 25 years now and he had more important things, like survival to take care of than focus on his hair hygiene. Expectedly they were messed up, filthy and tangled, as non-Rapunzel like hair that you can imagine. He had to be given a thorough head wash, with shampoo, conditioner, and drying which had to be repeated with his beard too. His hair was finally salon ready to be styled.
And It Begins
Jose was finally on the chair with more than 2 people tending to change his entire appearance, of course, it felt like a royal treatment to him. The changes in his expressions betray all his emotions of nervousness, excitement, and anticipation. The video is a fast-forwarded version of all the changes brought to his appearance in a span of a couple of hours. The mirrors, as he had requested were shut.
Unruly Hair
It can be seen from the pictures what a mess Jose’s hair was. They had to be taken one bunch at a time to be brought under control. In the video, it can be seen that Jose’s hair had to be clipped on and put in a bun for the stylist to be able to manage the hair at the back. No wonder it took almost 2 hours in the entire process, but Jose’s hair was not the only thing that was going to be changed.
New Clothes
As said earlier, the transformation in the entire of Jose’s visage was the idea of this makeover. His measurements were taken and new and branded shirt and trousers were brought for this lucky homeless man. He did not see the mirror until he had changed into the fresh garments and when he did, he could not believe his eyes, well neither could we.
All But Gone
All of Jose’s unruly locks were cut down. His hair was given a sharp, neat and trimmed look. Now was the turn of his unkempt beard. His beard actually caught the trimmer in it a couple of times. But Salva was a professional and he got the beard under control too. However, he had more plans for Jose. Since it was to be a complete makeover, how about a change in hair color too?
