Before the mirror window was opened when Jose would finally have gotten to see his new, transformed self, the stylists gave his face final touches. His neckline was made neat, so was his beard. He was made to wear the new clothes bought specially for him, his hair combed until they were exactly what Garcia wanted. Jose was nervous with anticipation to see his new self and while watching the video ahead, so were we.Garcia is a perfectionist and he wanted Jose to see himself as an entirely transformed person, which meant that the salon team made sure not to leave any chance of a change. Even Jose’s eyebrows were made, extra hair plucked out, everything was done to enhance, what was going to be his new avatar.
“I Am Not Jose Antonio”
Overwhelmed and stunned by how different two hours can make him look, and unable to believe his own eyes, Jose Antonio looked into the mirror and said, “I Am Not Jose Antonio. No one is going to recognize me! I mean even if I tell them who I am, no one is going to recognize me. I am telling you, no one in the whole neighborhood will recognize me.” He was sort of right.”I am totally different. It’s not me.” Jose kept repeating these words. To him it was like a miracle, he went from looking homeless to an attractive looking neat man within two hours, WITHOUT any cost. When asked if this new look was better he said, “ya, but it’s incredible.” Now that he was made over, it was time to put him on the streets again, among the people he crossed daily and see their reactions.
