Humbling End

In 1994, a movie was made based on the life of Mary Willock named as abovious “Princess Caraboo”. Mary finally met a trustworthy man and married him. She had a daughter who grew up to live a decent happy life. On Christmas Eve of 1864, she passed away on a snowy day. Historian, Brian Haughton said, “that Mary dared to escape her menial position and perpetrate such a complicated hoax is, I believe, nothing short of wondrous. Mary Willcocks should be an inspiration to anyone who feels held back by their position in society.”
