Bamse, The Dog Soldier

Bamse served as a Norwegian minesweeper during World War II. When the captain was about to leave with Bamse for another posting, the whole crew got so sad by the news that mutinied against the captain.
Bamse became legendary in Dundee and Montrose, where he and his owner were stationed. He rode buses alone with a specially made bus pass that was tied around his neck. He even made sure that the drunken sailors made it back to their respective posts.
