Yuanyang Rice Terraces

The Hani people have been digging the Yuanyang Rice Terraces into the rolling landscape of the southern Ailao Mountains for many centuries which makes this place an ancient one. Covering around 12,500 hectares and the height that reaches up to 6500 feet above sea level. Depending on the season, the terraces can either be green or filled with water which reflects the colors and shape of the clouds. The Hani people who live here and farm their lands still follow their ancestors’ traditions.
