GW Carson’s manager, Jim Kirtopoulos, decided to do something charitable in response to the mystery customer’s actions. The restaurant already sold T-shirts, and now a part of the profits will go to the American Society for Deaf Children.
Not Born Deaf
It should also be noted that Carlson was not born a deaf person. She was involved in a car accident at the age of four that caused her to lose her hearing ability. It took her several years to get a hearing aid to help her hear better.
Difficult Childhood
It was initially thought that she might have had a learning disability, and was held a grade back as a result of it. In the end, though, she got herself a hearing aid and is now better than ever, living her life as best as she can.
Deteriorating Hearing Ability
A very sad fact is that her hearing has slowly deteriorated with every year that has passed. Still, she’s been getting by on lip reading people and trusting her hearing aids – when they’re working, that is.
