Simple Straight Question

Now, William recalls asking the cop a simple straight question that morning, “Good morning, officer. Was I speeding?” Little did he know that this cop’s answer will bring the biggest change he was in need of at that time…

Just No?

The cop replied to Williams question with a smile. He said, “No.” What was it for then? William grew anxious to know the reason behind all this. After all, this wasn’t acceptable at all; misusing one’s powers. But the cop had something to say, something that will calm William instantly.

Thanking Him

The police officer wasn’t doubting William for any sort of illegal activity. “Good morning. No, not speeding. Just wanted to stop you and say thank you for your service,” the cop said. But how he got to know that William was from a military background? And why in the world would he stop anyone just to thank them for doing their duty?

Noticed

So, this cop noticed the military sticker on the bumper of William’s car and that’s how he got to know about his military background. He wanted to thank the young man for his services who was confused to think whether this cop stops every military person to thank them? Why would anyone, especially a cop will do so?

Asking Questions

“You’re welcome, sir. My pleasure,” said William to the cop. The cop then started a conversation with him and asked him about his work. William told him, “I went to Iraq. Did a 15 monther out of Fort Benning,” This information immediately changed the police officer’s reaction. It was like he was familiar with this place.

Opening Up

The officer was stunned, as if, it was something happening for a reason. He started telling William about his son who went in the warfare too. The police officer’s words started breaking when he told William that his son never returned from the war, just the news of his death arrived.
