The USS Ohio now holds about 154 ‘Tomahawk’ missiles but during the Cold War, it used to carry nuclear missiles. However, the nuclear capabilities of the USS Ohio had to be surrendered after signing treaties with Russia to end the Cold War.

The USS Harpers Ferry is transportation and supply ship which is primarily used by the US Navy to transport jets and other amphibious vehicles around. USS Harpers Ferry was also used in humanitarian missions in Burma in 2008 after ‘Cyclone Nargis’ devastated the country.

The USS Zumwalt is the latest weapon in the United States Navy’s arsenal with the capabilities of destroying guided missiles. The first ship, a DDG-100, was commissioned in 2016 and is designed for anti-aircraft warfare and naval gunfire support. The ship has abilities for deep-water combat.

The USS Emory S. Land

The USS Emory S. Land is a logistics and maintenance ship tasked with maintaining and refueling nuclear submarines in the high seas. To accomplish this tall order, the ship is sized like a small town with almost 53 storefronts on board. The USS Emory S. Land was commissioned by the US Navy in 1980 and is still functioning today.

The USS Blue Ridge Amphibious Command Ship

The USS Blue Ridge is under the U.S Seventh Fleet, providing continuous intelligence support. USS Blue Ridge is integral to the unbroken communication between all the ships under the U.S Navy. It also is the oldest deployable warship that the U.S Navy hasn’t decommissioned and is expected to stay in service till 2039.
