“Our Castiel is eating like crazy, showing some spark now that he has energy, and taking naps when necessary,” W.O.L.F. added. “His paws are healing well and he’s starting to gain weight. And… he’s always ready for more food, despite the numerous feedings throughout the day.”

Thankfully, this Wolf-dog’s uncompromised love for food provided the staff with a chance to gain his trust. It wouldn’t be long for Castiel’s attitude towards the people who showed him undivided love and care would change for the better. In fact, he even grew comfortable enough to take food from the volunteers.

In fact, this wolf-dog had made such an amazing recovery that before the staff even realized he was fit enough to get a little exercise and explore off-site infirmary. “He’s doing SO WELL. [Hopefully] we’ll be able to take him up to his forever home at the Sanctuary in a few days,” W.O.L.F. wrote.

So, as Castiel gained his health back he grew a little more confident,  it came to W.O.L.F. staff’s  notice that he was taking a huge interest in other animals, too. “Our director had a number of dogs,” Michelle Proulx, the sanctuary’s animal care director,  told The Dodo. “The infirmary was located at her house and we noticed him getting really, really interested in [them].”

He Is Now Moved To A Sanctuary

On 19 July 2016, Castiel finally stepped out of the infirmary and into the sanctuary at W.O.L.F. At that point, staffers came to the conclusion that this wolf-dog now needed was a close friend. “We knew he was starting to get lonely for canine companionship and wanted to find a companion for him,” Proulx explained.
